Top 3 Easter Eggs From The Wreck-It Ralph 2 Teaser

If there’s one animated sequel we can’t wait to see in 2018… well, it would probably be The Incredibles 2. If we had to pick a close runner-up, however, it would undoubtedly be Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2. The original 2012 film delved into the world of video games, showcasing a few familiar faces (Sonic, Bowser, Q*bert), as well as some new characters who were destined to level up into our hearts (Ralph, Vanellope, Fix-It Felix, Jr.). Disney finally gave us a good look at the upcoming film in the following teaser.

We’ll have to wait until November 21, 2018 to see the movie, but for now we can dissect the trailer and its numerous Easter eggs.

3. Star Wars Easter Eggs

It’s been reported that C-3PO, R2-D2, and Yoda of Star Wars fame will all make appearances in the film. Anthony Daniels will even reprise his voice as the protocol droid. In the teaser, you can spot collector plates featuring Yoda and Chewbacca in the background of Mr. Litwak’s office.

2. Website Easter Eggs

While we didn’t get to see a ton of video game cameos, the preview is loaded with plenty of Internet Easter eggs. Upon arriving in a shining new world, Ralph and Vanellope are surrounded by numerous different websites and apps. Many of them are parodies of existing companies, although you can spot a few actual sites like YouTube Red, TripAdvisor, National Geographic, Mashable, IMDb, and eBay.

During one of the teaser’s funniest moments, Ralph and Vanellope get caught up in an iPad game where a rabbit eats one too many pancakes. The sequence is so hilarious that you might’ve missed the fact that the little girl playing the game is actually baby Moana. Auli’i Cravalho will return to voice the character in Wreck-It Ralph 2 along with all the other Disney princesses.

Barbra Streisand Cloned Her Dog

Few things are more heartbreaking than saying goodbye to a beloved pet. Oscar-winning actress Barbra Streisand missed her beloved dog so much that she cloned her into a set of two.

It might sound like pure science fiction, but Streisand opened up about cloning her 14-year-old Coton du Tulear Samantha, who passed away in 2017, while speaking to Variety. Prior to Samantha’s passing, cells had been taken from her mouth and stomach. This allowed Streisand to have her aging dog cloned, resulting in Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett.

“They have different personalities,” Streisand discussed. “I’m waiting for them to get older so I can see if they have her [Samantha’s] brown eyes and seriousness.”

Streisand also has a third dog named Miss Fanny, who is a distant cousin of of Samantha’s. Those familiar with Streisand’s career will know that Fanny is also the name of her iconic character from Funny Girl.

Believe it or not, cloning isn’t anything new. Back in 1996, Dolly the sheep became the first mammal to be successfully cloned from an adult somatic cell. So then why isn’t cloning an everyday occurrence? Well, for starters, it’s still something of a touchy matter subject, as some would argue that it’s playing God. Vanity Fair reported in 2015 that human cloning is banned in roughly 70 countries.

While cloning animals isn’t quite as controversial as cloning humans, it still comes with a hefty price tag. ViaGen Pets, which is located in Texas, says that dogs can be cloned for $50,000 and cat clones cost $25,000. So if you were thinking about cloning Sparky or Mr. Whiskers, be prepared to break out the big bucks. Needless to say, Babs had the cash to make it happen.

Guardians of the Galaxy Director Confirms Groot Is Dead

From Agent Coulson, to Bucky Barnes, to Nick Fury, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for killing beloved characters only to bring them back immediately. Well okay, that’s not always the case, as Quicksilver, Peggy Carter, and Yondu likely aren’t being resurrected anytime soon. Plus, Avengers: Infinity War is bound to offer a few major causalities. Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy is an interesting case, however.

Image result for We are Groot gif

As we all know, the tree-like creature bravely sacrificed himself to save his friends in the first film, but came back cuter than ever as a sapling. Director James Gun has now confirmed, though, that Baby Groot is actually Groot’s son, meaning OG Groot is dead.

Image result for Groot sad gif

The filmmaker mentioned this on Twitter when a fan wrote, “But you can grow Groot back, as evidenced in your film. Once you kill a porg, it’s gone.” Gunn subsequently replied, “First Groot is dead. Baby Groot is his son.”

https://twitter.com/JamesGunn/status/968576621220331520?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nme.com%2Fnews%2Ffilm%2Fguardians-galaxy-groot-dead-baby-groot-origins-2250332

Up until this point, audiences have argued whether or not Groot technically died in Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s similar to when Harvey Dent fell to his death in The Dark Knight, although his demise was somewhat up for debate until Christopher Nolan clarified it. Now Gunn has stated for the record that Groot really did meet his end.

While it’s sad to think that Groot died, at least his sacrifice wasn’t in vein. Plus, if Groot had lived, we wouldn’t have gotten Baby Groot, which means we wouldn’t have gotten what’s arguably the greatest opening credits sequences ever!

We can look forward to seeing more of Groot in Infinity War, which hits theaters on May 4, not to mention Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is set to come out in 2020.

Top 3 Hilarious Markiplier Moments

It’s Not Easy Being A Youtuber…

As the self-proclaimed King of the Squirrels and Five Nights at Freddy’s, it’s no exaggeration to say that Mark Fischbach is one of Youtube’s biggest success stories. With a subscriber count closing in on twenty million, he’s showing no signs of slowing down as he continues to dish out new content in relation to video games, charity work and skits, all the while making us laugh ourselves silly. Though we have to admit, the hilarity tends to be at its peak when he’s somewhat…enraged.

Image result for angry markiplier gif

Whether its fighting for his life against possessed animatronics, battling bad controls or just trying to toast a slice of bread, these are the Markiplier moments that never fail to make us break out into fits of laughter!

#3: “Captured” (2006)

The look on Mark’s face as he is informed via rapid exposition that he has been kidnapped, trapped in a labyrinth and must flee from a blind killer called Damien Clyde speaks volumes. Rightfully terrified of being hacked to pieces, Mark does his best to traverse the various traps laid out for him, until he comes across the penultimate section. There, he’s tasked with spinning three wheels before another victim gets their head squashed, all the while being chased by Damien Clyde. He unfortunately fails in his task, leading to the funniest apology we’ve ever heard.

#2: “Vanish” (2012)

A Markiplier classic, one that started off as a creepy exploration of a well-made indie horror…but soon divulged into something all the more explosive. After repeated failures, Mark slowly starts to lose his mind. Whether its repeating the phrase “just give me the door” over and over again or going off on a tangent about the history of America, it’s clear that this game broke him. Though after that many failures, even we were starting to believe that the developers had installed an Anti-Markiplier Mode.

#1: “Getting Over It” (2017)

To this day, no game has inspired more visceral frustration, pure hatred and disdain for human life from Mark than Bennett Foddy’s magnum opus. And we love it. The somewhat philosophical exploits of one man using a hammer to climb his way up a mountain truly highlighted just how badly Mark handles rage games. With every fall, the King of the Squirrels was nearly reduced to tears, to the point where we think he might have given up on ever being happy again. It’s a series of mesmerising, malice-filled misadventures not to be missed by any fan!

Top 3 Double Toasted Reviews

Stay Toasty!

Youtube has provided a platform for practically anyone to be able to go online and voice their opinions. Over time this has given way to a new wave of internet critics, many of whom have taken to reviewing movies. While some never really manage to expand beyond obscurity, others have skyrocketed to new heights by blending together the standard review formula with their own personal flare. One such group are the guys and gals under the banner of Double Toasted!

Image result for double toasted gif

With former animator Korey Coleman at the helm, the DT crew have managed to maintain a dedicated Youtube presence (along with their own website and award-winning podcast) thanks to their brutally honest yet oh so enjoyable critiques of film, television, video games as well as current social trends. With their popularity only continuing to rise, we’ve decided to count down their most entertaining reviews to date!

#3: “Transformers” franchise (2007-17)

Like everyone else, the people over at Double Toasted have grown pretty sick and tired of Michael Bay’s lazy, lackluster, explosive-filled messes. While they found Age of Extinction to be borderline insulting with its stupidity and bloated runtime, they somewhat lost their minds over the madness that was The Last Knight. Honestly we think Korey might have snapped a little inside when it was revealed that the Autobots were in cahoots with Frederick Douglass…

#2: “The Fifty Shades” franchise (2015-18)

The build up around the first film in this cringe-filled series was massive, and as expected it turned out to be a disaster, but one people could enjoy ripping to shreds. Then the sequels came out, where things got a little weird. By trying to appeal to the male demographic with helicopter crashes, car chases and attempted murder, the series lost its collective mind. It was a crazy train that the DT crew were more than happy to ride, all the while pointing out just how idiotic the whole thing was, as well as continually illustrating why Christian Grey is an awful human being.

#1: “Suicide Squad” (2016)

With costumes in tow, the comic book loving members of Double Toasted suited up to rip this edgy failure of a film a new one. With Korey channelling his inner Jared Leto, the trio illustrated the missteps it took with the antagonist, the pacing and the treatment of its characters. Of course, the real treat is when Korey really does go full-on Joker and breaks into a rant about how all Warner Bros had to do was use Batman: Assault on Arkham as a blueprint. As hilarious as it is to see such an outburst, its also clear that they all just want to see these iconic characters given the cinematic treatment they deserve.

Top 3 Underrated Troy Baker Performances

Hail To The King

The Last of Us, Bioshock Infinite, Uncharted 4, Shadow of Mordor, Telltales’ Batman, the list of epic performances just keeps on going. We are of course talking about the vocal feats of one Troy Baker; an actor whose work in video games, anime and cartoons has cemented his place as one of the industry’s best.

Related image

He’s brought us to tears as Joel, portrayed the best Joker since Mark Hamill, essentially voiced everyone in the Bat Family and lest we forget was a part of the awesomeness that was Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Honestly, we could go on for days about his most iconic roles, but for now we’re going to be looking at the performances that we feel deserve a lot more attention. Regardless of whether you enjoy these games and shows, you can’t deny Troy stole every scene he was in.

Fair warning, there are MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

#3: Arkham Knight/Jason Todd
“Batman: Arkham Knight” (2015)

Nobody was fond of the Batmobile sections and anyone who knew anything about Batman had Jason pinned from the start, but that’s not to say Troy didn’t do a great job. As the Knight, he was a soldier who was constantly fighting back an overwhelming amount of rage and sorrow, forever on the precipice of losing control. As Jason, he loses all of that control. The reveal, while not unexpected, was still very well handled. You can feel every ounce of anguish that pours out of him as he is confronted with his past, battling against a misplaced lust for revenge as well as his own damaged psyche. It’s actually quite harrowing.

#2: Pain
“Naruto” series (2002-17)

Troy’s anime roles tend to be overlooked when compared to his numerous accomplishments in video games, with the exception of Fullmetal Alchemist’s Greed. However, his time as the leader of the Akatsuki was actually rather compelling. Every word spoken is layered with menace and authority, helping to sell the fact that Pain truly believes he is a god among men. Its this performance that makes the battle against Jiraya one of the greatest examples of anime dubbing in existence, with Troy’s villainous delivery choking you by the throat all throughout.

#1: Pagan Min
“Far Cry 4” (2014)

You haven’t seen charisma until you have met the King of Kyrat. Despite the fact he stabbed his own soldier to death with a pen only seconds after we had met him, Pagan proceeded to effortlessly charm us. It’s honestly quite amazing that for all the oppressive actions he commits, we cannot bring ourselves to outright hate him. This is partly due to the dubious morality of every other character in this game, and the other is of course Troy’s magnetic performance. Flamboyant, witty and surprisingly earnest, this antagonist somehow managed to make us wish that we had the option to take his side and rule Kyrat together. How’s that for messed up?

Top 3 Things We Want To See In Dragon Age 4

Fear and Loathing in Thedas!

Compelling characters, rich fantasy and plenty of rumpy pumpy with a Qunari. That’s the world of Dragon Age for you. As one of Bioware’s flagship franchises, many fans are losing their collective minds over the possibilities that could come with a fourth instalment. After all, Dragon Age: Inquisition and its subsequent DLCs managed to really raise the bar, not to mention give us a complete story in regards to our own personal protagonist. Some of us still haven’t gotten over that final scene with Solas…

Image result for solas DLC gif

It isn’t clear if the events of Trespasser will influence the actions of the next game, but we imagine that we’re bound to find ourselves faced with a new batch of friends and foes to deal with as we are once again launched into a quest to save Thedas from destruction. We have no doubt that Bioware can deliver, but in terms of specifics, these are the three aspects we’re really hoping they nail!

#3: Origin Variations

One of the first Dragon Age’s greatest features was the varying introductions to the main character depending on their race. They may have all arrived at the same destination, but seeing the difference origins of a human noble, human mage, city elf and dwarf commoner was rather enthralling. It made things infinitely more personable, which is why we hope we see this motif brought back with even more detail in the fourth instalment.

#2: Improved Combat

Mass Effect: Andromeda certainly had may faults to its name, but everyone was pretty unanimous in agreeing that the combat mechanics were the best they had ever been. Hopefully this game can get the seem treatment while maintaining top tier storytelling and gameplay. Can you imagine how epic it would be to see you bust out fluid sword techniques and magic-chain combos in the blink of an eye?

#1: Crazier Romance Options

Inquisition not only gave us your typical well-written yet basic romance options, but also one of the best examples of a homosexual love interest in the form of Dorian. Not to mention the chance to romp a pansexual Qunari, and in doing enter a very healthy dominate/submissive relationship. Bioware really upped their game here, so we’re hoping in the upcoming sequel they go even further. Obviously, make sure everyone is as developed and fleshed out as possible, but beyond that go wild. New races, numerous potential partners, new challenges and confrontations to overcome as a couple. Basically go big or go home!

Top 5 The Death of Superman Interpretations

Making its debut in 1992, The Death of Superman remains one of the most iconic and important story arcs in comic book history. Warner Bros. is currently planning to release a two-part animated movie based on the storyline. The Death of Superman is set to come out in 2018 with Reign of the Supermen following in 2019. Until then, a first look at the DC/WB movie has surfaced.

Of course this isn’t the first time The Death of Superman has been adapted. It’s also inspired storylines in various movies and shows over the years. Today, we’re going to rank all of them from worst to best! We’d say that there are spoilers ahead, but the story arc is literally called The Death of Superman. It’s pretty obvious what happens.

Image result for Doomsday gif

5. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

In this DC Extended Universe film, director Zack Snyder finally gave fans something they’d been waiting to see for years: Superman going up against Doomsday on the big screen in live-action! The problem is that the entire Death of Superman storyline was squeezed into the final act of an already bloated film. Since this was only the second DCEU movie, we hadn’t been given much time to develop a real connection with the Man of Steel either. While the visuals are stunning, the emotional investment just isn’t there, especially since we all knew he’d be back in time for Justice League.

Image result for Doomsday Smallville gif

4. Smallville: Season 8

Doomsday takes center stage in Season 8 of this CW series. The Doomsday arc here plays out like a classic Jekyll and Hyde tale as the mild-mannered Davis Bloome transforms into a monster. Although this strays from the source material, Bloome is actually developed into a fairly complex character and when Doomsday finally emerges, he looks surprisingly intimidating. During their final battle, however, Clark Kent defeats arguably his most powerful enemy in no time without breaking so much as a sweat. Talk about the ultimate anti-climax! Doomsday doesn’t even put up much of a fight, although he does kill Jimmy Olsen… well, Jimmy’s Olsen’s brother.

Image result for Superman Doomsday animated movie gif

3. Superman: Doomsday

Superman: Doomsday has the distinction of being the first DC Universe Animated Original Movie. The best moments are in the beginning, as Superman and Doomsday destroy each other in a bloody battle. That being said, the next two thirds of the movie are kind of a mixed bag, as they deal with the confusing aftermath of Superman’s death. So much like Smallville Season 8, we get a strong buildup and a weak payoff.

Image result for Justice League: Hereafter gif

2. Justice League: Hereafter

Interestingly enough, one of the best adaptations of the Death of Superman is also one of the least faithful. In the two-parter, Hereafter, Superman is seemingly vanquished at the hands of several villains. While his apparent death isn’t especially gritty and Doomsday doesn’t even make an appearance, seeing the Man of Steel get vaporized into oblivion remains one of the most shocking moments in the series. Seeing the world and the Justice League mourn this monumental loss also hits just the right note. They way Superman is brought back in the second half is a lot of fun as well, borrowing from the Under the Red Sun storyline.

1. The Death and Return of Superman

It might be purely satirical, but this “somewhat-mostly-accurate educational parody” from Chronicle writer Max Landis and producer Bryan Basham hilariously sums up why DC killed Superman in the first place, not to mention why his return was so messy. They even managed to rope in Mandy Moore as Lois Lane, Elijah Wood as Hank Henshaw/Cyborg Superman, and Elden ‘Foggy Nelson’ Henson as Doomsday!

Kevin Smith Survives Widow-Maker Heart Attack

The entertainment industry almost lost one of the most unique voices of the past couple decades. Kevin Smith, best known for writing/directing cult classics like Clerks, Chasing Amy, and Mallrats, is recuperating after surviving a “widow-maker” heart attack.

The filmmaker tweeted about his brush with death on Monday, writing, “After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (aka ‘the Widow-Maker’). If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!”

Many fans and fellow celebrities have wished Smith a speedy recovery, including Chris Pratt, who tweeted, “Kevin we don’t know each other too good but I have loved you since Clerks and I’m praying my ass off for you cause I believe in the healing power of prayer. Can you please pray with me people!?”

Pratt added, “Praying for you. I will continue to. You inspired me with Clerks when I was a senior HS. I’m tagging my Lb/rb football coach who showed me the movie cause he believed in me and knew I’d be inspired.”

Pratt’s tweets were actually met with some controversy for encouraging people to “pray.” Director James Gunn of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies was quick to defend Pratt, however, tweeting, “So I just read Chris Pratt’s tweet to Kevin Smith saying he would pray for him & made the mistake of reading the comments, many of which go off on Chris for saying he’d pray. I think people misunderstand the backlash against ‘thoughts & prayers.’ (thread).”

What’s important is that Smith is doing better and even shared a video update regarding his health via TMZ. Filming from his hospital bed, Smith’s words were deeply emotional, as he spoke of his family, friends, and the “incredible f***ing ride” he has had.

Smith currently has a new Jay and Silent Boy movie in the works and recently shared his thoughts on the new Venom teaser.

5 Things You Need to Know About Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir

At the 2018 Winter Olympics, figure skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir captured the gold…and our hearts.

The duo became the most decorated figure skaters in Olympic history and gained legions of fans with their impeccable routines, off-the-charts chemistry and tons of meme-worthy, gifable moments.

They are the Internet’s newest it-couple… only problem is, they aren’t actually a couple. After their steamy routine to the music of Moulin Rouge, the Internet erupted with speculation about their relationship off the ice, and were crushed to find out it is purely platonic…Or so they say. But let’s be real, they’re definitely in love.

Romantically linked or not, we are obsessed with them and everything they do and if you’re like us, you probably want to know everything there is to know about these Canadian cuties.

Here are 5 things you probably didn’t know about everyone’s favorite golden couple:

5. They’ve been skating together for over 20 years

The bond that these two skaters have is clear as soon as they step out onto the ice, but that kind of chemistry doesn’t happen overnight. In fact, their strong connection is actually 20 years in the making. The pair met when they were kids and first skated together in 1997, after being paired up by Scott’s aunt, and the rest is history!

4. They used to date!

That’s right, Tessa and Scott were once an item…but don’t get too excited, they were 7 and 9 at the time. The pair’s former coach Paul MacIntosh recently revealed that they briefly “dated” when they were kids, but that they were too shy to speak or even look at each other. If their steamy routines are any indication, they’ve definitely gotten over their awkwardness and here’s hoping they can rekindle that flame and just get married already!

3. They have an interesting training style

In order to craft their gold medal-winning routines, Tessa and Scott apparently use a more dance-like approach, even enlisting the help of famed ballroom dance champion and choreographer Jean-Marc Généreux. That dance training obviously paid off, as they can tear it up on the dance floor just as flawlessly as on the rink.

https://twitter.com/abbygriffiin/status/966202515833458691

2. Scott hates mascots

We’ll let him explain:

1. They wrote a book and had a reality show

Want to know more about your new favourite Olympic cuties? Well you’re in luck, they co-wrote a book in 2011 documenting their journey as skating partners. They also filmed a reality show for Canada’s W Network back in 2014, which followed the Olympians in the lead-up to the Sochi Olympics. That outta help feed your obsession…at least for a day or two!
