They say its not the destination but the journey that matters. When it comes to these games however, the payoff managed to elevate the experience to near perfection. For this list, we’ll be looking at the conclusions to video games that had such a profound impact that many a gamer was left weeping by the end.

Deciding  to sacrifice humanity rather than lose Ellie, Joel guns down the Fireflies, preventing a possible cure from being made. What’s worse, he chooses to lie to Ellie, telling her there truly is no hope left.

He took down sixteen Colossi in order to resurrect his true love, but ends up becoming a vessel for the demon Dormin instead.

Surprise! Turns out The Boss wasn’t a traitor. She was actually the ultimate patriot, willing to die in disgrace for her country. Feel bad for killing her? You should.
